NCL-1: Attribution Requirement

NCL-1: Attribution Requirement#

Permission is granted to use, distribute, and create derivative works based on the licensed material, provided that proper attribution is given to the original author or rights holder.

1. Scope#

Attribution must be provided in all instances of:
Use or distribution of the material.
Creation or distribution of derivative works.
Attribution must include:
The name of the original author or rights holder.
A reference to the original material (e.g., URL or document title).

2. No Additional Restrictions#

No additional restrictions may be imposed on the attribution requirement beyond those defined in this rule, unless specified by other NCL rules included in the license composition.

3. Transparency in Derivatives#

Derivative works must clearly indicate:
That they are based on the original material.
Any modifications made to the original material.
Attribution must be included in a visible and appropriate location, such as documentation, headers, or accompanying materials.

4. Disclaimer#

This rule ensures proper recognition of the original author or rights holder but does not confer any additional rights to claim ownership or authorship of the material, as outlined in NCL-0.
Note: NCL-64 must always be combined with NCL-0 and may coexist with other rules in the NCL framework to define broader or narrower permissions.
