NCL-128: Contribution Terms

NCL-128: Contribution Terms#

Permission is granted for contributions to the project, with specific conditions for their use, acknowledgment, and incorporation into commercial and non-commercial projects.

1. Scope#

Non-Commercial Projects:
Contributions are welcome and may be freely incorporated into the project without prior notification or financial compensation.
Contributions become part of the project’s shared creation base, with proper acknowledgment of the contributors.
Commercial Projects:
Contributions may be incorporated into the project under the following conditions:
No financial benefits will be provided to contributors unless explicitly agreed upon in advance.
Unauthorized contributions may be incorporated without prior notification or financial compensation, at the discretion of the project owner.
Contributors who wish to retain operational or financial rights must establish a prior agreement with the project owner.

2. No Additional Restrictions#

No additional restrictions may be imposed on contributions beyond those defined in this rule, unless specified by other NCL rules included in the license composition.

3. Transparency in Derivatives and Contributions#

Acknowledgment of Contributions:
All contributions must include proper attribution to the original project.
The project must acknowledge contributors as part of its shared creation base.
Use of Contributions:
Contributions may be freely used, modified, and distributed as part of the project, whether for commercial or non-commercial purposes, in alignment with this rule.

4. Disclaimer#

This rule ensures that contributions, whether to open or closed projects, are incorporated transparently and equitably. However, contributors to commercial projects have no automatic right to financial benefits or operational participation without prior agreements. Unauthorized contributions become the property of the project upon incorporation, as outlined in NCL-0.
Note: NCL-128 must always be combined with NCL-0, NCL-2 and NCL-4 and may coexist with other rules in the NCL framework to define broader or narrower permissions.
